Continuing to expand opportunities created with municipalities, Southern Ocean Downtown Driven program includes Stafford Township to collaborate on business growth and sustainability.

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, which recently received its global re accreditation as a Destination Management Organization, continues to build their Downtown Driven Economic Development Program. Launched in 2017, Its purpose is to work with local governments and merchant led groups to help establish direction of the discussion regarding immediate and long term needs that foster a strong business community. The goal is to build a network to distribute resources to community based organizations focusing on improving aesthetics and ordinances that will help drive new business/employers to the various commercial opportunities within Stafford Township.

Stafford Township, which has several thriving business and commercial hubs will work with the professional chamber by utilizing programs and analyzing smart growth strategies to best compliment the community.  The Southern Ocean County Chamber, which is currently celebrating its 105th year of continuous service, has many active members located in Stafford and holds their formal meetings in Manahawkin along with several others including Women in Business, After Hours and consumer events including the Wedding Road Show and Southern Ocean Made Brew Trail.

At the February 5, 2019 Stafford Township meeting, Resolution # 2019-72 was passed for official partnership between the governing body of Stafford Township and Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce.
The Downtown Driven Program has advanced the private public projects, including the Tuckerton Seaport and Beach Haven Water Ferry, as well as assists with a variety of projects including research and marketing. Stafford Township joins the Boroughs of Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Tuckerton, Little Egg Harbor and Barnegat Township who are also partners with the program.
