The series will offer tips and tricks on how to standout as well as innovative marketing strategies, and will remind residents and visitors the importance of supporting local businesses.

With many people shopping online or looking for cheaper products, it can seem daunting as a small business owner to stand out. Luckily, there are many ways to retain and engage your current clients as well as attract new ones. Though you may be eager to focus on new customers, don’t forget your loyal shoppers/clients. Repeat customers are responsible for at least 40 percent of your sales, so it’s imperative to keep them connected. You’ll find that happy clients will spread the word and help to gain new interest. Focus on customer loyalty programs and offerings this holiday season. See below for a few ideas on how to thank your consumer base!
Take the opportunity to offer a special gift to your repeat customers. This could be something small or something that you have extra inventory of. Send an email out to your subscriber list inviting all customers to come in to receive their free holiday gift. This will also get people into your store, who will likely spend more money while there.
Offer free gift wrapping to your customers during the holiday season. This will be attractive to your current customer base and potential new clients as well.
Send handwritten cards to your most loyal customers! They will appreciate the personal touch and attention and show that you care.
Hold a private event for your clients/customers. For restaurants, this could be an hour or two of free passed hor d’oeuvres. Attendees will appreciate the invitation and free food and will likely visit your bar! For retail, keep your store open for a few extra hours and invite your customer base to a private event with holiday music, refreshments and special discounts!
Offer special discounts/deals to previous customers. This could be a percentage off of their purchase or special items or a buy one, get one deal. Your clients will love being offered exclusive sales.
