Security Resources for Planning Safe Workspaces and Public Places

The summer brings thousands of visitors and vacationers into the Long Beach Island Region taking part in activities on land and on the water. To help prepare for the increased crowds, our chamber has once again partnered with the NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness to bring the Sixth Southern Ocean Hometown Security Seminar on June 8 hosted by the Ship Bottom Fire Department. The event had opening remarks by CEO Lori Pepenella and Ship Bottom Police Chief Jonathan Potter. Current domestic threats will be given a high priority by the NJOHSP, Cybersecurity Practices for Small Business including fraud was discussed by the NJ Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell. Ron Jennings of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office as well as Chief of County Detectives Anthony Carrington discussed county measures taken regarding vulnerability assessments and physical protective measures including monitoring flash parties that have recently been in the news. Stephen DeAngelis, from the NJ State Police Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROC) and US Department of Homeland Security regional rep Andrew Smith shared important resources for planning for businesses and festivals.
