In a recent survey by an online hotel booking site, LBI was listed among the top 5 most expensive summer destinations.
Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard emerged in first and second place. Third was Montauk, and Long Beach Island came rated fourth for average room rates with Bar Harbor rounding out top 5. We agree LBI is certainly an upscale choice, but there are many other lodging options including vacation home rentals and campgrounds that will fit all budgets. Our chamber businesses also recognizes the importance of value added by taking part in our Eat, Drink, Buy LBI Mobile Savings Pass that will continue well past the summer into the fall and winter holiday season. Though LBI ranked fourth it was the only destination in New Jersey to be listed in the top 20 destinations.
Our business community works year round to support visitors and local consumers, by providing regional expert assistance from activities, dining, unique products and much needed services.
The survey considered all destinations in the USA with a minimum of 10 hotels/inns. Only well-located (close to the beach) properties rated at least 3 stars and with positive average guest ratings were considered. For each destination, the average price for the cheapest available double room was established for the period spanning August 1–31st, 2022. Rates were established in mid-July based on research using the hotel comparison website Kayak.
