BRANT BEACH, N.J. – Partners in business and marriage, the owners of Shore Brake Cyclery, Charlie and Chelsea Kulp, have announced the purchase of their storefront’s property located at 3801 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, New Jersey on July 25, 2022. The 2,694 square foot building will continue to operate as a mixed-use commercial building with two units on the second floor as year-round rental units.
“Over the last few years, we have all seen an increase in commercial spaces being purchased and ultimately torn down to build single-family homes,” stated Chelsea Kulp. “We knew we had to make this move, even if it was a big stretch for us. It was not just about our business, but also the tenants upstairs, some of whom have become like family to us over the years.”
The Kulps worked closely with the property’s previous owners, Trudy Kopenhaver and Gregory Kopenhaver, Jr. over the past few months to make this sale a possibility.
“Charlie and Chelsea were great tenants and years back told us that if we were ever interested in selling, they wanted the opportunity to purchase,” stated Gregory Kopenhaver, Jr. “We are so delighted to see this incredible couple be able to continue to grow roots within the Long Beach Island community.”
Charlie Kulp opened Shore Brake Cyclery in 2016 after working for 10 years in the bicycle industry specifically at local bike shops on the island. “This is really a long dream come true,” stated Charlie Kulp. “When the opportunity presented itself, we had to pull all of our resources together to make it work, and we are proud to say that we did.”
