In June head out to our pop up membership meeting, take in social media and linked in classes, attend the first ever Homeland Security Presentation and drop into our Women In Business Roundtable.

Before the next few months send us running in every direction, choose your time to connect with amazing business people in our community.

Beach Culture Redefined

Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce proudly announces that Trip Advisor’s family travel site, Family Vacation Critic has included Long Beach Island on the 2017 list, the only beach community to make the list in New Jersey.

It was a pleasure to work with the team from Family Vacation Critic. We advocated to be included on the list by providing what our members are bringing to the area that make the experience complete. Along with the descriptions and reasons to visit, the chamber sent over several photos to help build their case.

Listing in the article, and certainly high on the new list is members SurfLight Theatre in Beach Haven and DayMark in Barnegat Light. The free events happening at Fantasy Island was also included as being new and updated each year. Family friendly hotels, included long time member the Sea Spray Motel. Focusing on performances and our Beach Culture Redefined campaign made the perfect pitch, keeping good news a secret, that was promise we made until the official April 4 announcement’ Family Vacation Critic® is a comprehensive online travel resource for families that offers reviews of family hotels, resort and destinations. The site features vacation ideas, family travel tips and an online forum for family travelers. Family Vacation Critic is published by The Independent Traveler, Inc, a subsidiary of TripAdvisor, Inc.

We have partnered with the NJ Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness, in cooperation with US Dept of Homeland Security and Ocean County Prosecutor present free Security Initiative in time for busy summer season.

The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness and the US Department of Homeland Security in partnership with Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and local law enforcement will host a not to be missed opportunity to help local businesses and their employees contribute to the safety and security of the community. With the generous support of the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company, this workshop will bring real answers to the ongoing discussion of how to prepare for, mitigate, and respond to security threats.

If you operate a business, volunteer or host events of any level attending this workshop should be a priority. This is the first time a discussion of this caliber has been brought to our region. We are hoping everyone takes advantage to benefit from having these experts available to us. The agenda includes opening remarks, a threat briefing, protective security measures, resource sharing, and a facilitated discussion. This program will provide the opportunity for our business community to collaborate with local, county, state and federal law enforcement as well as homeland security organizations. There is no cost to attend, but space is limited.
