According to their website, the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company department operates out of three stations within the township borders. The Main Station is located on Birdsall Street in the original section of town known as (Downtown), and houses two Engines, one Mini Pumper, one Rescue/Engine, one Wild-land Urban Interface/Brush Truck, one Fire Police vehicle, and one Water Rescue Boat.  Substation 11-1 is located at 499 Barnegat Boulevard at the corner of West Bay Avenue and houses one Engine, one 105′ Ladder Truck, one Brush Truck, and a Fire Police Vehicle.

Substation 11-2, located at 99 Route 72, houses an Engine, a Tanker/Rescue vehicle, an Extrication vehicle, a Mini Pumper and also an Ambulance used by the Barnegat First Aid Squad. Their coverage consists of 41 square miles of residential, commercial, agricultural, and bay front property. Averaging close to 500 calls a year within Barnegat Township, they also routinely respond to mutual aid calls to neighboring fire companies throughout Southern Ocean County.

They are very active in the community, having just hosted their 6th Annual Stop, Drop and Run 5k, 10k  & 1 Mile Fun Run and the Santa Run. The Ladies Auxiliary hosts annual events such as the Fish Fry and Cookie Walk (Sale). There is also a hall that has been renovated and available for parties and events.

Be sure to follow them on Facebook. Visit their website to get details about becoming a firefighter or joining the auxiliary.
