The Ocean County College Global Education Committee will present a series of presentations on the OCC Main Campus from November 12-14 as part of this year’s International Education Week. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, November 12 • 11:00 am • Lecture Hall, Tech Building (Bldg 25)
Cultural anthropologist Charlotte Langeveld will speak about her field work in Africa and Afghanistan, as well as the challenges of effective humanitarian aid delivery.

Fatima Osipowicz will discuss teaching ESL (English as a second language) in Cuba, Bahrain, the former Soviet Union, Azerbaijan, Poland, and North Africa.

Tuesday, November 13 • 9:30 am • Conference Room A + B, Conference Center (Bldg 10)
John Ramos will talk about his experience as a US Peace Corps volunteer in Madagascar, where from 2007-2009 he taught English in the local school system and worked with environment and health volunteers on several auxiliary projects.

OCC English and Literature Professors Dr. Jennifer Dellner, Dr. Joaquin Rolon, Dr. Sandra Brown, and Jayanti Tamm will present “Myths and Stories: An Examination of Storytelling in Literature from Around the Globe.”

Author and professor Kevin Bales, considered the world’s leading expert on contemporary slavery, will give a presentation on the topic of slavery. Facilitated by Jason Ghibesi, OCC Lecturer of Political Science and History.
