The goal of the Southern Ocean County Chamber Regional Business Development Plan was to convene a council consisting of a broad coalition of regional partners who will contribute to the exploration of Southern Ocean County’s strengths and create a shared action plan that can be implemented to stimulate interest in new investment as well as provide existing business with an accurate picture to help growth. This ad hoc council brought together representation from key business districts, as well as state, county and higher education liaisons. The first meeting was held August 21, 2013, with the report being a long term outcome to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the organization. After meeting for over a year, and releasing quarterly reports, the Business Council information and recommendations for the plan was handed off to Rockport Analytics, producer of the Southern Ocean Chamber’s 2012 Tourism Economic Impact Report, to create a report that will give guidance to growth within the Southern Ocean Chamber footprint serving as the foundation of a thriving economy by the year 2020. The development of this plan would also open the dialogue necessary to sustain the educational and policy infrastructure to support a vibrant business economy while preserving the integrity of the small town environment of our region.
This report will allow our staff, Board of Directors and committees to focus on creating programs and partnerships that will support the data and strategies gathered from this research.
