Chowderfest Contestant Closeup will take a look at 2018’s contestants, chef’s and recipes. Chowderfest will take place on September 29th & 30th, 2018.
Polly’s Dock and Clam House is one of the oldest waterfront restaurants that features boat rentals, a bait and tackle store, and outdoor dining. Competing for their first year and led by manager and chef, Iris Cox, the restaurant will be entering into the New England category with their “Polly’s Dock Clam Chowder.” Margaret Damiani added, “We are hoping that fresh local clams in our chowder will set us apart from the rest. They are as fresh as you can get, coming directly from the bay by local clammer, Peter McCarthy, to our restaurant.”
Polly’s started out as a rowboat business and was originally established in the 1940’s by the Joorman Family. The Damiani’s bought the property in 2007 and continued to run it as a boat rental company. In 2014, Patrick Damiani added a take out restaurant in order to accommodate the hungry boaters. “Since that time, the restaurant has grown out of demand for bayside dining and our delicious steamed clams, which is our specialty,” Margaret continued. Check them out at 112 Northwest Ave in Beach Haven or try out their chowder for yourself on September 30th!
