Due to restrictions currently in place this year’s Chowderfest  will bring chowder tasters directly to the source by supporting local restaurants and retailers.  As the organizers of the 32 year event , the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce recognizes that this is an opportunity to keep the community safe and keep this popular event on the 2020 calendar will present ChowdeRestaurant & Merchant Month. There will be many new features including a Chowderfest Play list for in home or on route listening, Official Chowderwear  e-store, restaurants serving up dine and take home options, an  online voting component, Chowder Run & Bike Virtual Challenge, with social media and pop up surprises. “The importance of the event cannot be underestimated” states Chamber President Christopher Schwab, Anderson Insurance Agency. “This will bring Merchants and Restaurants the end of season attention as well as give everyone an enjoyable way to support local businesses”

By allowing a full month to share the spirit of the event, it allows customers to enjoy multiple restaurants at their own pace, avoiding overcrowding of  restricted space, visit merchants in store and online.  The extra time  will give customers an opportunity to plan stops according to their comfort level that will bring a steady stream of business to those members who are participating.  Details will be shared shortly, but the voting  will begin September 5 for Labor Day Weekend for patrons to begin purchasing Chowder  cups, pints and quarts,  so they can even create a “Chowderfest at Your House” event. Each voter can register for free voting ballot and will receive the Chowderfest Virtual Information Packet.  The event will be supported by interactive content as well as the announcement for the Chowderfest 2020 Overall Champion happening October 4.   From Photo Op stops, digital mapping, and Secret Sale Merchant Listing will be housed online at www.chowderfest.com , there will no cost for consumers to get the information needed to vote or tour the ChowdeRestaurant & Merchant Month businesses.
